ATP Tour - Fed faces Murray challenge
March 3rd, 2008Roger Federer will face Andy Murray in the first round of the Dubai Championships.
Murray is unseeded because 8 of the Top 10 ranked Tennis Players are competing in this tournament.
But in terms of Sports Betting, what can we expect, and are there any angles we should be looking to expliot?
Looking at the odds on offer on Betfair, we can back Federer for 1.28 or lay him @ 1.29
Roger, is of course coing of a moral sapping defeat in the Australian Open in Melbourne, he has given himself time to recover, and by all accounts is in rude health at present.
In Melbourne he look a bit listless at times, and not quite himself, so I am sure he will be looking to bounce back strongly.
Murray on the other hand has won two titles this year and his defeat in the Australian Open was at the hands of Tsonga, who went on to make the final.
Looking at the head to head record for the pair we see it stands at 1-1. Federer beat Murray in the 2005 final in Bangkok 6-3, 7-5. The next meeting between them occurred in 2006 in the ATP Masters Series in Cincinnati, Murray surprised everyone by winning 7-5, 6-4.
At the odds I would suggest a bet on Andy Murray, perhaps trading out at the appropriate time to ”green up”.
However, given the narrow margin of victory on each occasion they met, the best sports bet on offer I feel is Murray +5.5 games @1.53 with Betfair. The margin of their two meetings was +4 to Murray and +5 to Federer.
Good Luck with your Sportsbetting!!
